About our books: "Many years ago, while teaching in a Resource Room with students from grades 1-6, I found that my classroom budget did not allow me to acquire all the materials that I needed for these students. So, I purchased materials for the older students and begun creating my own simple books and worksheets for the youngest ones.

I chose basic sight words from the Dolch Pre-primer list as a beginning. My students enjoyed the little books and keep having success with these materials which required that I keep on writing more books and worksheets. We worked our way through the Pre-primer list and by the next year, we were moving up into the Primer list.

Over the years, I kept refining the books and worksheets and used them in addition to commercially available materials. Other teachers and student teachers asked to use these books with their own students. Their comments and encouragement gave me the inspiration to present these materials to more students, teachers and parents.

In 1992, Teddy Bear Press was formed to make these books and workbooks available. Over the years, more materials have been added as I receive requests from teachers for simple materials that work. It is a joy and delight to continue producing books which assists student to say "I Can Read" and "Reading Is Fun."
